(1) -- Overall, the environmental benefits from relying on 5 compact fluorescent bulbs in every home in the United States would be equivalent to decommissioning 20 fossil fuel burning power plants, or removing more than 8 million cars from the road. (US EPA, 2004)
(2) -- "If automobiles were as good as compact fluorescent lighting systems, ...you would get 90 miles to the gallon and cars would last for 200 years." (Better Homes and Garden Magazine, 2004)
(3) -- "Lighting uses nearly one-quarter of all the electricity in the United States, and much of this electricity is generated from polluting fossil fuel power plants. So replace your incandescent light bulbs with more efficient compact fluorescent lights, which now come in all shapes and sizes. Not only will you be doing your share to cut back on heat-trapping pollution, but you'll also save money on energy and light bulbs." (The Union of Concerned Scientists, 2004)
